Haemostatic Aqua Dress from X-Med are haemostatic superabsorbent adhesive wound pads, made of non-woven felt coated with a mixture of calcium alginate powder and sodium alginate powder. The wound contact layer is covered with low adherent non-woven to allow removal of the dressing without pain or trauma. The haemostatic wound pad is placed at central position on the adhesive area. Patches are applied without a fixing bandage.
- Step 1: Cleanse the wound in accordance with custom procedures.
- Step 2: Choose a dressing with island pad which is slightly larger than the wound and place it in contact with the wound base, ensuring the entire surface is covered.
- Step 3: Peel the liner from the dressing, exposing the adhesive surface, and then center the dressing over the wound. Gently press the adhesive side down, smoothing the center outward.
- Step 4: In case of island dressings with frame delivery system or crack cut backing paper, slowly remove the frame or the backing paper while pressing down and smoothing the film border to ensure good adhesion.
- Step 5: Dressings should be changed daily in heavily draining wounds, reducing to twice weekly (or weekly) as healing proceeds.
- Step 6: To remove Haemostatic Aqua Dress use tweezers, forceps, or a gloved hand to gently lift the dressing away. The dressing may adhere if used on a very lightly exuding wound. Removal of the dressing is facilitated by saturating the wound with saline.
